So, my questions are: See Dweezil's answer below
- what exactly do the mini-switches do ? Do the 4th one "bypass"
the volume and tone controls? Like on Jacobacci guitars?
Dweezil - The SG may
not be functioning correctly. It appears that 3 switches are
on/off for each pickup but the fourth switch seems to mute
everything. That doesn't seem like a useful feature.
- is it possible that Mr Frank Zappa modified this SG after
playing on his Jacobacci, finding this electronics convenient/interesting?
Dweezil - The SG
started its life as a single pick up (P90) guitar and ended up
as seen in the video. Not sure who modified it for my dad or
what year it was modified.
- is it possible that the modifications on this SG may have been
made by the Jacobacci brothers, in Paris? Did he meet them, or
did he buy his Jacobacci Studio 3 in a guitar shop?
Dweezil -Not sure
about whether my dad met them or purchased the guitar from them.
I never saw that guitar at the studio. It must have been sold by
my dad or stolen by the mid 70's. It most certainly was not
around in the 80's at all.
- and last question: Does Mr Dweezil Zappa know where his
father's Jacobacci Studio 3 is?
Dweezil - I wish I
knew. It would be a fun guitar to play.
